Snow-shoe walking, Preparations and Progress
What a wonderful way to put January behind me. I spent the weekend in Gréolières with a lovely group of people snowshoe walking, hiking, practicing yoga and meditation, with a quick peak at the fabulous snow moon through a telescope.
Snowshoe walking was a new experience for me. It was a challenge but the raquettes de neige gave me the confidence to walk in the snow without sinking or sliding. It was tough, especially getting to the mountain top but with rest of the French alps behind us, the view that we were rewarded with of the sea, Cannes and Nice made every step worthwhile.
To me, unused to snow and mountains, it was like walking in a film set. A moment's meditation on the mountain felt very special. The yoga when we returned to our accommodation was almost a step too far, my muscles not wanting to obey but the stretching and movement left me relaxed and ready for an excellent, well earned meal. https://www.la-maison-du-loup.com
A gentler hike followed the next day, past the remains of the original fortified village, abandoned during the plague. When the survivors returned they were too afraid to go back and built the present village of Gréolières further down the mountain. Walking amongst wild thyme and dog roses, aware of the presence of deer, wild boar and wolves it is difficult to imagine you are only an hour from the hustle and bustle of Nice.
Meanwhile, I am preparing to publish my 5th novel. The manuscript has been edited, formatted and proof read. I am almost ready to publish...
The Hidden series is set in a Midlands town in England as the 1980’s come to an end.
Florence has left nursing to become the private investigator of her dreams but, after working for a year with Arthur Renishaw and seeing the reality of life as a PI, happily she accepts her position as office manager in Renishaw Private Investigation Services. Florence may not be undertaking surveillance or actively investigating, but by listening to people in her unobtrusive way, she helps: Corinna, a pregnant young girl; Eunice, searching for her grandchild; Mildred, looking for her mother; and Helen, trying to preserve her own life while protecting her alcoholic mother.
But primarily Florence wants to be there for her friend Dawn, whose sister Andrea is struggling to come to terms with the discovery that Geoffrey, her husband, is gay.
