My apologies.

My apologies for leaving it so long since the last post.  I have been working hard to complete the manuscript for my new novel and there didn't seem to be enough words left in my head for the blog.

The garden had been busy while I've been neglecting it and at some point I'm going to have to work out when to harvest kumquats (and what to do with them). The lemon tree has a few fruits but not as many as the one next door. I'm hoping someone will give me some advice on its care.

Have you ever seen a frog this green?

I decided to walk from Menton to Monaco one day, to clear my head. I had woken to the sound of the sea which is unusual, I can see the sea from all the windows of the apartment but it is normally so calm, that you don't hear it. The waves were indeed big enough for surfing, as two brave souls were proving.

As I walked along the front, workmen were busy moving the beach from where it had been abandoned, following a previous storm.

A fairground had arrived to replace the Christmas market and work was starting on the grandstands along the Promenade du Soleil ready for the Fête du Citron in February. It's all going on in Menton!

When I do this walk again, which I am sure to do, I will not make the mistake of choosing a blustery day. On the narrow path around Cap Martin, when rogue waves weren't trying to drag me out to sea, the wind threatened to blow me off the path.

The walk was bracing, to say the least, but it was beautiful in spite of the wind and every few yards there was an amazing view.

I had a bit of a surprise, on a less ambitious walk nearer home. I was walking past the entrance to the parc du Pian, when a flock of sheep were ushered past me on the pavement and led into the park.  They seemed to like it amongst the olive trees.  I didn't wait to see what they made of the mini golf.

I am slowly moving towards getting a Carte Vitale (access to healthcare in France). I sent off all the information to the relevant department in November, received acknowledgement of receipt and then waited.  I have just received a letter with details of what else they require... Watch this space.

Lots of reading as ever, wholeheartedly recommend them all!

And of course, don't forget that my own books are all available to order from bookshops or Amazon and to borrow from St John's English Library, Menton.

I understand that there have been some issues with ordering the paperbacks from Amazon, I hope that this is resolved but please let me know if you have any difficulty.

My next novel is to be called Hidden and if things go to plan, will be available later in the year.  Set in the 1980s and with all new characters, it is a bit of a departure from the Barwell Trilogy—I will keep you informed.
