Happy New Year

This is just a brief update to wish everyone a Happy New Year.


A trip to Monte Carlo on the 22nd December was arranged by the British Association of Menton (a lovely group of English speaking people, from all over the world). 

After seeing the areas of the casino reserved only for the richest gamblers, we had  lunch in the Salon Rose followed by Phantom of the Opera in the Opera house. What an experience!

Christmas day was spent with friends, a happy relaxing day. 

Back to normal the next day, no Boxing Day in France...

Time with friends New Year’s Eve and a mountain walk New Year’s day to blow away the cobwebs.




I hope that anyone who is reading this, was able to spend the holidays in way that made you happy.





My next book is coming on a pace, The plan is to send it to the editor at the beginning of February, so I must get back to work. 


I am enjoying getting to know my new characters, discovering more about them as they develop. All will be revealed in the not too distant future.

My apologies.

 My apologies for leaving it so long since the last post.  I have been working hard to complete the manuscript for my new novel and there didn't seem to be enough words left in my head for the blog. The garden had been busy while I've been neglecting it and at some point I'm going to have to work out when to harvest kumquats (and what to do with them). The lemon tree has a few fruits but not as many as the one next door. I'm hoping someone will give me some advice on its care. Have you ever seen a frog this green? I decided to walk from Menton to Monaco one day, to clear my head. I had woken to the sound of the sea which is unusual, I can see the sea from all the windows of the apartment but it is normally so calm, that you don't hear it. An Eventful Week

  It’s been an eventful week. A mid week birthday means that I am now officially a pensioner, in receipt of my state pension. On the same day, the   paperback version of my third book, Journey's End, was released.   Thank you for all the lovely birthday messages and, thank you to those who have already ordered my book. I have spent time with friends, swum each morning and, at the weekend,  as a birthday treat to myself, I visited the Monet exhibition in the Grimaldi Forum, Monte Carlo (taking advantage of the pensioner discount of course) . The heat has meant that I have not been the only one taking an early morning dip at Rondelli beach. B efore the sun is fully up w hole families are set up on the beach, to take advantage of the comparative cool. A text from a friend in England reminded me of the advantages of cold water swimming but I have to point out, cold water means a completely different thing in England. Since I arrived, the average sea temperature here has been 23℃. I

Journey's End

  It seems to have been a long process (perhaps it's because I have been relocating to a new country at the same time) but the paperback is now available to order online and from your favourite bookshop. Waterstones Blackwells Amazon These are the big ones but independant bookshops can order it too —support them.  I felt very sad when I finished Journey's End, not because it is a sad book but because it meant saying goodbye to my characters.  I shall miss Hilary and her friends.  I hope that you enjoy reading Journey's End as much as I enjoyed writing it and while you read it, I'll be in my little corner getting to know my new charsacters and writing the next book.
